Ask. Family.

Kids don’t exactly follow the training of their fathers or mothers.  While they may be loved from the month they are born to the final moments before death, some kids are actually pretty big disappointments to their parents.  Their lifestyles sometimes just don’t jive with what the folks had envisioned for them.  Fact is, kids grow up and they get to choose their own way.

Yeah, life can be exciting, rewarding, challenging, and magnificent despite landslides that bury thousands in the sand. People are surrounded by opportunities to learn, make, help, travel and walk on the moon and travel to neighboring planets.  There are so many choices to sort through to nail down our careers and lifestyles. 

Parents work hard to get their kids ready to tackle a world that is, as a whole, the most complete oxymoron that every existed.  This world is beautiful beyond imagination or words; yet, it can be the most treacherous, deceitful, dangerous place in which to live. 

As humans, we love people, need people, seek fellowship with others but we know some can be quite capable of cutting our hearts right out of our bodies.

And, here we are, getting out there and not letting anyone tell us what to do or how to LIVE, not having learned all that much over thousands of years.  We might have figured out how to make vehicles to take us into space and how to do transplants of body parts, et cetera, but most of us are still not acting like loving children. 

The truth is that most of us are truly kids of birth parents but simply aren’t children of God.  The Bible is pretty clear that God wanted us to be FAMILY.    Check it out:  Galatians 4:4–7, Ephesians 1:5; Romans 8:15

God gave us LIFE so that we could LIVE.  Our great…great grandparents (Adam and Eve) got to walk and talk with God in His most magnificent garden.  They didn’t appreciate it and wanted more, maybe to be as smart as God, maybe to show who was in charge of THEIR lives.    They defied their FATHER GOD.

Well, after God told them to get out of the garden and live like they wanted to, HE still loved them.  Kids came along and grands and so on for thousands of years.  God still wanted to have family even after HIS first-borns turned on HIM. 

God gave us LIFE so that we could LIVE.  He provided a book stock-full of lessons to help us fashion our lives.  In that book, He also told us that HE would help us, guide us, be with us and provide for us IF WE ASK.   

It all has to start with the asking.  His hand is out there and HIS heart is wanting us to want to come home and be family.   There is a way.  We have to be adopted, and MEAN it when we accept the adoption, not just a pretend adoption to get our names listed on God’s will.  We can still live in our own neighborhood but we are HIS family on the day we BELIEVE this whole thing is real, and basically sign on the dotted line so show we ACCEPT the adoption and promise to try to mend our wicked ways.

Why am I saying all this right now?  Well, sometimes, we really need a synopsis, tell in a nutshell, what this is all about in words that we can understand!

From me to you:  I am only a road sign pointing you to the way. You have to want to know how to get to God and what the first steps are.    When you see that there is a better way than your way, you have taken the first step. Seeing a better way leads to asking. And, listening. And asking.
